Based in the centre of Barnsley at the stunning Gateway Plaza, we are a forward thinking company who carry out projects either as sole developer or through joint ventures with partnering companies. We also offer additional or enhanced services and experience to the development process, and have completed numerous projects on both speculative and pre-let basis throughout the UK.

Established in 1991 as Dalemast Limited with the principal focus of developing residential, leisure, office parks and mixed-use developments, we have built an impressive portfolio and gained extensive experience in joint venture and partnerships with local authorities and regional developers.

Martin Brook

Martin Brook – Chairman

With more than 50 years’ experience within the industry, Martin Brook has a vast background working in the property and leisure industries, including founding Brook Leisure – which was the UK’s largest independent nightclub operator – and developing Barnsley’s first four-star hotel, Brooklands.

Quest Property, operating under the Brook Group, is the continuation of Martin’s commitment to independent, family-run businesses operating to benefit the community.


Jason Brook – Chief Executive

After reading Urban Land Economics at Sheffield Hallam University, Jason worked in Leeds for three years while qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor. Jason worked for both Weatherall, Green & Smith and GVA Grimley and had a wide range of experience particularly in the property investment sector and with property valuation.

Following the sale of the original Brook Leisure in 1997, Jason left his position in Leeds to concentrate full time on Brook Group activity, where he had been a director since 1993.

Matthew Stephens

Matthew Stephens – Development Director

Since graduating from the University of Hull, Matthew has an enviable track record within the property industry, working in the acquisitions and disposal sector. He joined the company from a Dublin-based development company, dealing heavily in the residential sector, purchasing schemes for investment, and also selling developments to the investor markets within the UK and Europe.

Matthew has an extensive network of contacts, which has allowed him to dispose of schemes in Glasgow, Bristol, Hull, Cardiff, Swansea and Nottingham, selling residential units developed in-house, and also bought in as investment.

Matthew Bell

Matthew Bell – Group Financial Controller

Matthew joined the Brook Group of Companies in 2010 and is responsible for the finance and accounting of the group’s varied property portfolio spread across numerous companies.

Prior to joining Brook Group Matthew gained a wide range of experience working in a number of engineering business.
