Gateway Plaza, Barnsley

The flagship Gateway Plaza development, completed in 2010, part of the remaking Barnsley strategy. The complex and challenging 2.2 acre site was acquired by Quest in 2003.

It was transformed into a £60 million project comprising, 188 residential apartments, 96,000 sqftof Grade A office, 110 bed Premier inn Hotel and restaurant, Medical centre, mixed use retail and leisure in addition to 540 car parking spaces. The scheme was nominated for Yorkshire development of the decade in 2010 and the deal to sell the office element of the scheme to the local authority in 2010 was the largest single office transaction in Yorkshire. The transformational scheme acted as a catalyst for the wider regeneration of Barnsley town centre.
